This is nothing new. People have been forced into buying certified crap for a while now. If you forget when XP came out there were lots of programs and hardware that had to be XP certified otherwise there were potential 'conflicts' and to this day there are some things you put on your computer that get that stupid little 'may not be compatible with Windows XP Professional SP2'.
